If you are looking for a tropical island atmosphere than try a Bahamas family vacation. With almost 2,500 islands to play on, this popular cruise destination will provide an endless array of fun for everyone in the family. And it’s all only 50 miles off the coast of Florida.

You are most likely planning to hit the beaches on your Bahamas family vacation. The most populated beaches will be in Nassau and Freeport.

This is because all the cruise ships have regular stops at Grand Bahama Island and New Providence Island. You will have plenty of other tourists to contend with - the Bahamas are a popular vacation idea.

But then, that’s where you will find the best hotels, nightlife and things like the Dolphin Experience where you can swim in the open water with

trained dolphins. Cable Beach, on New Providence Island, is 4-miles long and has all the shops and activities you would expect at a very popular tourist location.

Grand Bahama Island has Xanadu Beach close to Freeport. This beach is also going to be crowded but as you go down the 60-mile long shoreline, you can expect to find more privacy for your Bahamas family vacation

Prefer something out of the way? Try one of the Out Islands. These require slightly more work to get to but the beaches of powdery white sand and the fine tropical coconut palm trees are worth the trip.

On the northeastern part

Paradise Island you can find some peace and quiet at the end of Cabbage Beach. You have to walk or take a boat to get there but you can find some blessed relief from the crowds of tourists near the hotels.

Cat Island has some nice beaches that are secluded yet you still have access to decent accommodations. This is also an excellent spot if you like diving, snorkeling or other water sports.

Safe swimming is a concern on your Bahamas family vacation and Pink Sands Beach, on Harbor Island, has one of the safest swimming in the Bahamas. This is because of the coral reef located offshore that protects the beach from the normal threat of breakers.

If you really want to get away from the other tourists head for the beaches on Cat Island. There are several great beaches here that offer peace and seclusion but no amenities. So be sure to bring along what you expect to need for the day.

Back on Paradise Island you may want to visit or stay at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort & Casino. This is an excellent vacation idea for the family as it has a 14-acre sea world playground with cascading waterfalls, an underwater viewing tunnel, children’s programs and loads of shopping.
